Testimonials and comments from people and organizations using “Gifts from the Heart” in their fundraising efforts:

“I'm so glad to have been part of sharing “Gifts from the Heart” with our community. It is such a wonderful way of sharing the spirit of Christmas with friends and family that it almost sells itself. The story behind the creation of this book, the practical and fun kid-tested ideas, as well as the wonderful cause it supports, only adds to its appeal. Combine all of that with the well prepared, simple-to-use fundraising package, and you are well on your way to both supporting cancer research and your own purpose. I would highly recommend this book as a successful fundraiser for any size group to take on. Think about it as an Advent or early Christmas gift or a Christmas in July project. Many of the people I gave “Gifts” to this year want to buy if for friends next year! You can't go wrong with “Gifts from the Heart”.

Gaile Sullivan, St. Mary's Anglican Church, Nanoose Bay, BC

“Gifts from the Heart” from its heart-felt inception, (the loss to cancer, of parents and a secretary in a small community school) to its eye-catching cover, easy-to-read format and inclusion of childrens' drawings and letters, truly does make one stop and think about the true meaning of Christmas. Supporting cancer research was reason enough for many to purchase the book--the wonderful content with its focus on sharing and giving was a bonus. “Gifts from the Heart” sells itself!”

Sharon Goshorn, Mile 108 Elementary School, Mile 108, BC

“These beautiful Christmas books sold like 'hot cakes' with our school parents. If we had had more time before the holiday we could have sold many more.”

Thelma Dann, Principal, Discovery School, Victoria, BC

“A fantastic, fun book for all ages - a book that can be used, not just during the Christmas season, but throughout the entire year. Great to have the children involved with their “writings” and “drawings”. We found the service to be prompt, efficient and caring. The “recipients” from the proceeds from the sale of this book are the real winners. Alpha Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Ottawa used their proceeds from the sales to support breast cancer research.”

Audrey Couzens, Alpha Master Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, Ottawa Ontario

“We thank you for the wonderful book. We are a new centre and are always looking for quality fundraising ideas. This was exceptional, not only in content, (a thing we need at Christmas time) but in fundraising for our not for profit childcare centre. Thank you so much for your own generosity and may the good spirits of the season be with you all year long.”

Marilyn Geater, Administrator, Enchanted Woodlands Childcare Centre, Nanaimo, BC

“Coastal Community Credit Union was absolutely delighted with the response of our employees and members to our “Gifts from the Heart” fundraiser. We had the books on display in our nine branches for the months of November and December. Virginia did a number of 'book signings' in the branches and that created a lot of excitement. We were very pleased to be raising funds for both the Canadian Cancer Society and our local hospice groups. During the course of the campaign we sold almost 400 books! We raised $2712.00 for our two hospices and we were able to create an awareness in the community of the importance and impact of the contributions made by both the Canadian Cancer Society and the hospices. We truly enjoyed working with Virginia and her husband, Charlie, and look forward to participating with them again!”

Lynne Fraser, Vice President, Finance & Community Relations, Coastal Community Credit Union, with branches in Nanaimo, Parksville, Qualicum and Nanoose Bay, BC

“I decided to give a copy of “Gifts from the Heart” to each of my team members for Christmas, as it seems that we have all been touched, or have known someone touched, by cancer in our lifetime. The response from my team was overwhelming. They enjoyed the book very much and many of them used ideas from the book for their holiday celebrations this year. Most important, they seemed to appreciate the contribution that was made through the book to raise money for cancer research.”

Debra Terry, Vice President, Guy Carpenter & Company Inc.
